JLF 12 FT Inflatable Kayak Set

I purchased (2) 14' JLF kayaks in the Spring, one for me and one for my wife. Since then we have traveled with them from Florida, Chicago and just got back from 3 weeks in Maui. They are very durable. I did buy an electric pump as blowing up two of them in the Florida heat was a work out!

An advantage is they are fairly light which makes traveling with them easy. I actually purchased roller bags for them and ship them as luggage when we fly. A disadvantage of them being so light is wind. On windy days the wind can push you sidewise so you may need to tack into the wind them. I purchased Bixby motorized fins for them which helps extend our paddling range and provides assistance against the wind.

I've paddled the mangroves in Florida, the rivers around Chicago and just got back from paddling over 23 miles up and down the Maui coast near Wailea. Since I find these work best in smoother water and winds under 10 MPH, we always went out early as the Hawaii winds always picked up around 11:00.

Great product, easy and fun to use. We always have people stopping to ask us about them. If you're looking for a portable kayak these are it! Very heavy duty material. I ran into some coral under a bridge in Florida and it just scratch the surface. They come with a repair kit that I have not needed. All though they are built like a tank, I'm don't think you'd want to purposely hit anything really sharp however, as with any inflatable. So far so good!

Traveling in our RV this summer, it's easy to take with us. I am in the Adirondacks. Wind, current, waves are all handled with ease. Great boat!

Have looked at a number of inflatable kayaks and decided on the JLF 12ft inflatable kayak. The material and construction seems to better than most of the others on the market. When I received it I had a small problem with the seat which Janice took care of immediately. Inflation was very quick with the hand pump about 15 minutes, although probably will purchase an electric pump, save energy for paddling. Went out for my first paddle today just a short outing as the weather was pretty windy, was very impressed on how the yak handled, I have had a hard body sit on yak for years so it’s going to take a little time to adjust to paddling the inflatable but again very impressed. Would highly recommend JLF, you are dealing directly with the company who are proud of their product and support their product. Like the other reviewer my primary use was going to be when traveling with my RV but I think I will use it for much more. Looking forward to getting in more paddling adventures.

My checklist was extensive: a serious craft, not a rubber raft posing as a kayak; viable footpegs, not footrests; quality construction; easy to assemble/disassemble/transport; good tracking; good performance in windy conditions; comfortable to paddle; and fun! The JLF 12' beautifully delivers on all fronts, and more. I bought it primarily to use when traveling in my RV. But I enjoy the feel and performance,I know I will be using it for much more than that. Dealing with JLF directly has been great as they patiently addressed all my questions and concerns both before and after my purchase. I did a lot of research and read hundreds of reviews on similar boats before buying. This boat meets the best characteristics of others (for the type of kayaking I will do) and solves issues present with other designs. I look forward to many new adventures with it.

This kayak is remarkable! I was impressed at how quick and easy it was to inflate. Due to its flat bottom, it was a breeze to get in and out of because I could stand up. It was to stable. I really appreciated the padded seat. So much more comfortable than hard seats I have encountered using other kayaks. The kayak is very roomy inside, so my dog can enjoy the ride as well. I absolutely love my new kayak from JLF! I can't wait to explore more lakes and rivers in the area!
